The Challenge
All Energy Solar, a project developer based in St. Paul, Minnesota, was searching for a solution for the host customer, Trystar, a leading designer, manufacturer, and supplier of electrical power solutions for the entire power market. The customer wanted a solution that would reduce demand charges at their expansive manufacturing facility that could accompany its existing solar PV system. The site is a part of Steele-Waseca Co-Op Electric (SWCE) where the on-peak hours are during the manufacturing facility’s prime operating times.
The Solution
All Energy Solar tapped BYD, a direct storage hardware partner of Energy Toolbase, to procure a turnkey energy storage solution. At Trystar’s 120,000-square-foot factory, All Energy Solar deployed a 120 kW/266 kWh BYD CHESS system integrated with ETB Controller and Acumen AI. Configured for demand charge management, the system leverages dynamic economic dispatch to reduce demand peaks in real time and lower electricity costs. The ESS is paired with a 173-kW SolarEdge solar array to maximize onsite generation value. The customer also gains access to ETB Monitor for live updates on system performance, savings, and operational efficiency
